Men's volleyball ranks in AVCA Top 15 for first time in program history

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a 2-0 weekend and 3-1 start to the year, the Marymount (Va.) University men's volleyball team has reached a milestone in the program's fourth season, grabbing its first national ranking on Tuesday afternoon at No. 12 in the AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15.

Battling to two four-set victories over Baruch College and Hunter College in a tri-match Saturday afternoon in New York, the Saints moved to 3-1 for the season, the best start in program history.

Currently leading the way in the Continental Volleyball Conference with just one loss, Marymount is joined in the Top-15 ranking with two other league opponents. Also coming in at No. 12 is reigning CVC champions Stevenson University, and at No. 15, Juniata College. The Saints are the only team this week to enter the top 15.

Marymount is back in action for its first home contests of the year on Friday, January 27, hosting a tri-match with Marian (Wisc.) University and Elmira College. The Saints will take on the Sabres at 4 p.m., and follow with the Soaring Eagles for a rematch at 8 p.m., in the Verizon Sports Arena.
