Safley, Wiechecki Named to All-CVC First Team; Bratke Second

ARLINGTON, Va. - On Thursday, Marymount men's volleyball senior TJ Wiechecki and sophomore Sam Safley were both named to the All-Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) First Team while senior Erich Bratke was named to the Second Team.

The Saints' three selections were the second-most in the conference behind the four from Eastern Mennonite.

Wiechecki, who earned his fourth-consecutive All-CVC First Team selection, leads the team with 314 kills, a mark that ranks sixth in the CVC. He is also ranked second in the conference and sixth in the nation at 4.03 kills per set while posting a .300 hitting percentage.

Wiechecki ranks 13th in Division III in attacks per set (8.65) and fifth in points per set (4.67). 

Safley earned his first career all-conference honor after ranking second on the team and seventh in the CVC with 303 kills. He also ranks fifth in the conference and 20th in Division III in kills per set at 3.48 while posting a .266 hitting percentage.
 
Safley, who leads the team and ranks seventh in the CVC with 0.47 aces per set, is ranked 18th nationally at 4.06 points per set.
 
Bratke earned All-CVC Second Team honors for the second-straight season. He currently leads the CVC in assists at 10.79 per set, a mark that also ranks him second nationally.
 
As a team, the Saints lead the conference in kills per set (13.24) and second in hitting percentage (.286).
 
The top seed in the CVC West Division this season, Marymount begins its quest for the program's first conference championship on Friday when the Saints play Rutgers-Newark in the semifinals of the 2018 CVC Championship beginning at 8:30 p.m., at Kean.
