Women's golf opens Fall season with strong showing at McDaniel Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – The Marymount women's golf team teed off in their first tournament of the Fall season on Sunday, grabbing a third-place team finish at the McDaniel Fall Invitational on the course of The Bridges Golf Club. 

Entering the first year as an Associate Member of the Centennial Conference, the Saints competed against a handful of full-time members such as Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, host McDaniel, and reigning conference champion Gettysburg. With a team score of 376 (+88), Marymount grabbed third place, only being defeated by Stevenson (+58) and Dickinson (+63).

Leading the way for the Saints were senior Alexis Miller and junior Alessandra Bertacche, each posting rounds of 85 (+13) to tie for fourth place out of a field of 34 golfers. 

Seniors Rebecca Rizy (98) and Courtney VanWie (108) rounded out the team score for Marymount, coming in at 21st and 25th, respectively. 

The Saints will carry this momentum into next weekend's Shenandoah Fall Invitational in Front Royal, Virginia. The two-day tournament tees off on Saturday, September 16 at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.
