Coming off the addition of track & field several months back, the Saints are continuing their expansion with tennis to bring their total sport count to 21. Tennis is familiar territory for Marymount, having a women's team through the 1980s into the mid-90s, while also having a men's team in the early parts of the 90s.
"Adding tennis back into our sport offerings makes sense for us at this point in time," Reynolds said. "Not only does tennis draw a strong student profile, our location is also a great attraction for high caliber student-athletes to study and compete in the nation's capital."
Both men's and women's tennis are sponsored in the new Atlantic East Conference (AEC), which is working towards automatic qualifiers to the NCAA Championship upon being crowned conference champions.
Schools in the AEC that have tennis are Marywood University, Cabrini University, Neumann University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Immaculata University, and now Marymount.
