ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount baseball team couldn't get the bats heated up on Tuesday afternoon against Penn State Harrisburg, dropping a 7-1 nine-inning CAC game to the Lions at Bishop O'Connell High School.
Held to just four hits, the Saints crossed one run across in the bottom of the seventh on a fielding error by the Penn State shortstop, scoring freshman Casey Baker.
Although MU committed six errors in the game, it was in the game throughout, trailing by just two runs through seven innings. However, the Lions erupted for four more runs in the top of the ninth to take a substantial lead that held in the bottom half of the frame.
The four hits for the Saints came from four different players including Baker, senior Kaden Darrow and juniors Cal Berman and Nick Smutko. Baker's one hit was a double down the left-field line to set him up for the lone run for the Saints in the seventh, eventually scoring on the fielding error by the shortstop.
The Saints will look to bounce back on the road at Frostburg State University on Thursday, April 12. Marymount defeated the Bobcats in the first meeting this season, 2-0. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
