FROSTBURG, Md. – For the first time since 2014, Frostburg State topped the Marymount baseball team in the regular season, putting across 13 runs in the first five innings to take the 13-2 decision on Thursday evening.
With the victory, the series is split for the season, as the Saints took the home nine-inning game a few weeks ago, 2-0, when the Bobcats were ranked No. 9 in the country.
The other run for the Saints crossed in the fifth off a RBI groundout by Darrow to score junior Luke Tyree.
Sophomore Kenny Sysyn started on the mound for MU for the first five innings, before freshmen Matt Galarza and Stephen Gerade took over for the final three frames. Galarza, in his second collegiate appearance, tossed two innings for two strikeouts, a walk, and no hits. Gerade came in for the eighth, walking one in four at-bats.
The Saints return home for a CAC twin bill on Saturday, April 14 against York College of Pennsylvania. Game one is set to begin at 12 p.m., at Bishop O'Connell High School.
