LANCASTER, Pa. – Marymount University men's basketball freshman Xavier Reaves was named the Atlantic East Conference Co-Player of the Week for the first time, the league announced on Monday.
Reaves help the Saints to a 2-0 week, defeating St. Mary's College of Maryland, 83-77, on Wednesday, before taking down Neumann University in a triple-overtime thriller, 92-91, on Saturday to open conference play.
Against the Seahawks, Reaves tallied 11 points and six rebounds, to go with one steal, in the win.
He followed that up with his best game of the season so far, recording his first double-double against the Knights with 18 points and 14 rebounds, both career highs. He shot 7-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-7 from long range in the game in a season-high 36 minutes.
Reaves came up big for the Saints late in the game, recording a steal with 11 seconds remaining. He converted a three-point play with five-seconds remaining to regain the lead for the Saints for the win.
He earned the honor for the first-program Atlantic East award, as the Saints are in their first year as a member of the newly-formed conference.
Reaves and the Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, December 5, playing host to former Capital Athletic Conference-rival Salisbury University; the opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
