WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Marymount University men's basketball team wrapped up the 2018 part of its season on Wednesday afternoon, falling on the road to Lycoming College, 66-49.
A tight game through the first half, seeing the Saints trail by five at the break, 30-25, slowly went to the advantage of the Warriors in the final 20-minutes.
Several small runs put MU right back in contention, including a 7-0 stretch midway through the second half the closed the deficit to just two, 40-38, with 11:55 remaining. Junior LaDarius McCord ignited the run with a three-pointer, and was followed by freshman Kimani Benjamin and junior Ryan Albert with back-to-back jumpers.
However, Lycoming answered with 10-straight points of its own to fuel a separation that held for the remainder of the game.
Sophomore Steve Etienne notched his first career double-double, dropping in a team-high 10 points to go along with a career-high 10 rebounds. Albert, off the bench, contributed nine points, while junior Ibrahim Kamara and McCord added eight points apiece.
The Saints will take a short break before returning to competition in the New Year on Wednesday, January 2 at Carnegie Mellon. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
