LANCASTER, Pa. – Marymount University men's basketball freshman Xavier Reaves was named the Atlantic East Conference men's basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league announced on Monday.
Reaves posted the best week of his career as a Saint, so far, beginning the week with career highs with 19 points and 16 rebounds in an 88-81 win over Shenandoah University on Wednesday. Eleven of his rebounds were on the defensive end, while he grabbed three steals and added a block.
He followed that with five steals in Atlantic East play against Wesley College on Saturday, setting a career high, while scoring 13 points.
For the week, he shot 72 percent on 13-of-18 shooting, while hitting three-of-five three-pointers.
Earlier in the year, Reaves was named the Atlantic East Co-Player of the Week on December 3.
Reaves and the Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, January 23 on the road at Cabrini University in Atlantic East action; the opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
