BUENA VISTA, Va. – Four different Saints found the back of the net on Wednesday night, as the Marymount men's soccer team rolled to their second Capital Athletic Conference victory of the year after putting a 4-0 decision at Southern Virginia University.
Earning their second shutout of the season, the Saints got off to a quick start with freshman Levis Lopez nailing a 25-yard shot from the right side in the first two minutes of the match to take the early 1-0 lead.
Before the end of the first half, Marymount added its second to take a comfortable two-goal lead into the break. Junior Mynor Danilo Lopez earned his second goal of the season on the finish, sending a bouncing ball over the Knight keeper's head.
Marymount didn't slow up in the second half, getting seven more shots off with two finding the back of the net.
In the 76th minute, freshman Ridwaan Robinson ripped a shot from just inside the 18-yard box into the center of the goal. A little over 11 minutes later, junior Andre Ferguson put the final touch on the game with his first goal of the season to push the 4-0 final score.
For the game, the Saints outshot the Knights, 16-14, while the Marymount defense was led by sophomore goalkeeper John Valcicak, who notched his third game this season with double-digit saves with 10 for the night.
The men remain on the road for their next match, taking on Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday, October 21. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
