ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's soccer team faced off against Immaculata University for an Atlantic East Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, falling short 5-1.
The Mighty Macs came out strong, as they put two quick goals in the back of the net. Both goals came off of corner kicks that could not be cleared by the Saints. Immaculata continued to pressure the Saints' defense, out shooting them 10-3 in the first half.
After a quick corner kick from Immaculata in the 21st minute, senior Sebastian Hendi collected the ball and made way in an open field towards the Mighty Macs' goalkeeper. Senior Mynor Danilo Lopez alongside Hendi, received a through ball at the top of the box. Lopez finished the one-on-one opportunity to the bottom left corner to cut the deficit to just one.
The second half presented many opportunities for the Saints, out shooting the Mighty Macs, 13-2. Despite the amount of shots the Saints created, Immaculata found the back of the net twice in the second half, once from a through ball and the other from a penalty kick.
The Saints are back in action Saturday, October 13 as they take on the Hawks of Hartwick College. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
