WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Marymount University men's soccer team went into extra time for the second-straight game on Friday night, as senior Sebastian Hendi put away the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Gallaudet University.
Making a lot of adjustments in the final game of the regular season to give some Saints an opportunity for some time ahead of the postseason, Marymount and the Bison remained scoreless through the opening 90 minutes of play.
Although the Saints were outshot for the night, 16-13, the deciding finish was in favor of the blue and white in the 96th minute.
Freshman Robert Hultberg sent a pass over the back line of the Bison where Hendi ran down the ball. Careful placement had the senior captain lay his shot into the bottom left side of the net for the game winner in extra time.
Freshman Derek Manzanares tended the net for the full match, turning away three shots.
The Saints now gear up for the Atlantic East Conference postseason as the fifth seed, as they hit the road on Tuesday, October 30 to take on fourth-seeded Immaculata University. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
