LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announced its first-ever, all-conference teams on Friday, and the Marymount University men's soccer team had two named to the second team.
Junior Rodney Ngoh was named to the All-Atlantic East second team for the first time, following an impressive season as the leader on the Saints' back line, playing in 16 games with 15 starts. Ngoh was the last line of defense for Marymount on the defense and was consistently putting himself in the way of opposing offenses to keep them away from the goal. He also made a mark offensively, finishing the season with a goal and three assists for five points.
Senior Chris Cardenas also earned his first nod to the all-conference second team. Cardenas played in 15 games for the Saints in 2018, making 14 starts. He finished with four points on the year, scoring two goals, as an integral part of the Saints midfield. Both totals were career highs for the Springfield, Va., native.
Ngoh and Cardenas helped lead the Saints to the Atlantic East tournament in the team's first year of competition in the new conference. Marymount earned the fifth seed in the tournament.
Ngoh was previously named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first team in 2014 and 2015, before Marymount made the move to the Atlantic East this season.
