Men's Soccer Slips On Road To Blazers

FREDERICK, Md. - The Marymount University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup on the road Wednesday afternoon, falling to Hood College, 7-0.

The Saints came out quick with a shot on target in the first minute of play when freshman Justin Meza went low right, but the Blazers reeled in the attempt. It was similar on the other side of the field, as Hood put on five shots, four on target, over the next nine minutes. However, freshman Joshua Reid turned away all four on net to keep the game at even.

On the sixth shot, the Blazers found the back of the net, capitalizing just over 15 minutes in, and added another two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

The second half played in favor of Hood, adding five more goals to seal up the match.

Reid finished the game with six saves in 45 minutes of play, while freshman Eduardo Cardonne and sophomore Ronald Clark combined for three saves in split time of the second half.

The Saints return home for the next two games, starting with McDaniel College on Saturday, September 7. Start time is set for 1 p.m., at Long Bridge Park.
