Saints set multiple personal records in first day of Yellow Jacket Invitational

ASHLAND, Va. – The Marymount University men's swimming team traveled to Randolph-Macon College on Friday, beginning the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday, finishing day one with 211 points in fifth place.

Senior Isaiah Jones took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.01 seconds, earning the top finish for the Saints on the day.

Marymount also saw three personal records fall in the race, with junior Nicholas DiSanti (23.42 seconds), senior Ian Griffith (23.65 seconds), and sophomore Ryan Straka (24.02 seconds).

The Saints had teams finish in the top 10 of both relay events, first tying for sixth in the 400-yard medley relay. Jones, Griffith, junior Tedd Pham, and sophomore Max Klemm teamed to finish the race in 3:39.62, posting the best time for the team this season.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Jones, DiSanti, Pham, and Klemm took seventh in 1:30.42 for another season-best time.

Klemm continued his strong day, setting a new personal best in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.52, which was good for 13th overall.

Sophomore Gabriel Loring also set a personal-best time, finishing the 500-yard freestyle in 5:54.72, placing 23rd.

The Saints will continue in day two of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday, December 1.
