Men's swimming closes out Yellow Jacket Invitational, setting more personal records

ASHLAND, Va. – The Marymount University men's swimming team competed in the final day of the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Randolph-Macon College on Saturday, finishing fifth with 660 points in its final competition of the 2018 calendar year.

The Saints saw several personal records set on the day, including two each by junior Tedd Pham and sophomore Max Klemm.

Pham registered the top finish for the team on the day, taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke, with a personal-best time of 2:11.28. He also set a PR in the 100-yard backstroke (56.77 seconds), taking eighth.

Klemm garnered two top-five finishes for the Saints, first finishing fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a personal-best 2:00.42. He also took fifth with a personal-record time of 4:27.10 in the 400-yard individual medley.

Senior Isaiah Jones notched the fourth top-five finish for Marymount, taking fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (48.09 seconds) for his best time in the event this year.

Jones also took 10th in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a season-best time of 58.22 seconds.

Marymount saw five other top-10 finishes in the meet, with senior Ian Griffith taking two of them. Griffith tied a personal record with a time of 4:41.40 to take sixth in the 400-yard IM. He also placed eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.78)

Junior Nicholas DiSanti earned a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.07, for his best time this year.

To start the day, Klemm, Pham, Griffith, and Jones posted a season-best time of 1:41.46 in the 200-yard medley relay, taking eighth.

Then, Jones, Klemm, Griffith, and DiSanti wrapped up the meet with seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:24.10, also a season-best time.

Marymount will return to action following the New Year, hosting Salisbury University on Saturday, January 19 at the Lee Center Pool; the meet is set for 2 p.m.
