Men's swimming grabs three titles during first day of Atlantic East championships

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Marymount University men's swimming team got the Atlantic East Conference championship meet started on Friday, coming out of day one in second with 171 points and three conference titles.

Senior Ian Griffith grabbed the first win of the meet for Marymount, taking gold in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.50.

Sophomore Max Klemm finished third in the race, moving into sixth all-time in program history with his time of 2:00.78.

Taking the gold in the 50-yard freestyle, senior Isaiah Jones finished in 21.70 seconds, coming just .02 seconds shy of his career-best time.

The Saints also won the championship in the 400-yard medley relay, as Jones, Griffith, Klemm, and junior Tedd Pham finished with a time of 3:38.73.

Jones, Pham, Klemm, and junior Nicholas DiSanti added a silver medal in the 200-yard freestyle relay, taking second in 1:29.88.

The Saints will continue the meet on Saturday, February 16, with preliminary events getting started at 10 a.m.
