Saints finish second in Atlantic East championships after strong third day

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Marymount University men's swimming team closed out the Atlantic East Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon, posting 670.5 points to place second in the meet. Overall, the team combined for 11 event titles for the most of any school, with nine individual and two relay.

In the final day of action, the Saints grabbed three more individual titles, with junior Tedd Pham notching the first in the 100-yard individual medley. His time of 55.12 seconds was good for No. 2 in program history.

Senior Isaiah Jones followed with the gold in the 100-yard freestyle, tying the program record with a time of 47.28 seconds. Jones later broke the program record in his leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, racing in 47.20 seconds.

Senior Ian Griffith collected the third individual championship for the Saints, finishing the 200-yard butterfly in 1:58.96.

Pham added a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:13.43.

In the 400 free relay, Jones, Griffith, junior Nicholas DiSanti, and sophomore Max Klemm placed second in 3:17.89, to finish out the meet.

The Saints will now look forward to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, beginning on Friday, March 1. The start time is to be announced.
