ARLINGTON, Va.— The Continental Volleyball Conference recognized junior right-side hitter TJ Wiechecki of the Marymount (Va.) University men's volleyball team as Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Wiechecki has garnered CVC Player of the Week accolades four times throughout his collegiate career, and twice this season.
Wiechecki posted impressive numbers through a tough week against three AVCA-ranked opponents on the road. In total, Wiechecki posted 72 kills while hitting .379, averaging 5.1 kills per set and notching 75.5 points over three matches.
Against No. 5 Vassar College, Wiechecki notched 29 kills for a new career high and added 11 digs and two total blocks. Wiechecki bolstered 13 kills against No. 1 Springfield College in a 3-1 loss, marking just the seventh set taken from the top-ranked opponent. In a tilt against No. 12 Lasell College, Wiechecki rounded out the week by setting a new career high of 30 kills while hitting .523 to continue his impressive campaign.
At the conclusion of the week, Wiechecki's stats put him first in kills per set in the CVC with 4.08, and he leads the conference in total kills with 265. He is also ranked second in digs for the Saints after tallying 106 this season, trailing only the libero, junior Connor Choate.
The Saints will be back in action at home for a CVC matchup against Juniata College on Friday, March 17. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
