ARLINGTON, Va.— Junior right-side hitter TJ Wiechecki of the No. 11 Marymount (Va.) University men's volleyball team was tabbed Player of the Week by the Continental Volleyball Conference for the third time this season on Monday afternoon. In total, Wiechecki has garnered Player of the Week accolades in the CVC five times throughout his collegiate career.
Wiechecki continued his impressive 2017 campaign, leading the Saints to a 1-1 week against two AVCA Top-10 opponents. He registered 51 kills, 20 digs, and 11 total blocks through two matches, good enough for 58 points.
In an upset over CVC opponent and No. 8 Eastern Mennonite University, Wiechecki posted a game- and career-high 31 kills, as well as nine digs and total blocks. In a five-set thriller against No. 4 Vassar College, Wiechecki tied for a game high in kills (20) and digs (11) and added one service ace and two total blocks.
Wiechecki remains at the top of the standings in the CVC in two statistical categories: kills (337), and kills per set (4.21); His kills per set total also ranks him third in the country. Wiechecki is also in the top 10 of the CVC standings in blocks per set (.78) and service aces (23).
The Saints will return to the court on Wednesday, March 29 as they travel to Maryland to take on Stevenson University in a CVC matchup. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
