ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's volleyball team will enter the 2019 season as the No. 12 team in the nation, as well as being voted one of the top teams in the Continental Volleyball Conference.

The American Volleyball Coaches' Association Division III Men's Preseason Coaches' Poll ranked the Saints at the No. 12 spot with 109 points.

In the CVC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Saints were voted No. 2 in the conference entering 2019, earning 114 points in the rankings.

Last season, Marymount finished the year 22-7, with an 11-2 record in the CVC. The team advanced to the conference championship, before falling to Kean University in the title match, 3-1. The year concluded with Marymount earning the No. 7 spot in the country.

This season, the Saints return a strong core, as they look to build on last year's success. Marymount returns three of its top-four offensive threats from last season, in terms of kills, with junior Sam Safley putting down 334 last season to rank second on the team. The Saints also bring back a strong defensive unit, led by sophomore Evan Flesher's 46 total blocks.

Marymount begins its season on Tuesday, January 15 at the Converse Family Fieldhouse, hosting Messiah College; the match is set for 7 p.m.
