Safley, Shahan earn spots on the All-CVC second team

MADISON, N.J. – The Continental Volleyball Conference announced its 2019 All-CVC teams, and Marymount University junior Sam Safley and senior Remington Shahan were both named to the second team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Safley earns the honor as the team leader with 232 kills on the year for a 3.22 kills per set average. He ranks sixth in the CVC in kills per set and eighth in total kills.

One of the top all-around players for the team, Safley also ranks second on the team with 24 service aces and 37 total blocks, while being tied for third with 89 digs. In all, he averaged 3.8 points per set, which ranks first on the team and sixth in the conference.

Shahan mans the middle for the Saints and is one of their top defensive stoppers, leading the team with 41 total blocks. He also is second on the team with 151 kills and tied for third with 17 service aces.

He is tied for second with 2.5 points per set, totaling 191.5 points on the year, also second on the team.

Safley is making his second appearance on the All-CVC teams, being named to the first team in 2018.
