ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's volleyball team was voted No. 4 in the 2020 Continental Volleyball Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, the league announced on Monday.
The Saints earned 57 points in the poll, following a trip to the CVC Tournament semifinals, last season. The team finished 7-4 in CVC play during the regular season, before earning its second-straight trip to the conference tournament semifinals.
Last season, Safley led the team with 262 kills, while ranking second with 28 service aces and 39 total blocks. He also was third on the team with 96 digs.
Zanelotti led the team with 889 assists, 134 digs, and 36 service aces. He tied for third on the team with 27 total blocks.
The CVC Preseason Poll was led by No. 1 Southern Virginia University with 77 points and seven first-place votes, while Kean University (two first-place votes) and Juniata College (one first-place vote) tied for second with 67 points and Rutgers University-Newark rounded out the top five with 56 points.
The Saints will get their 2020 season started on Wednesday, January 8 at California Lutheran University; the match is set for 5:30 p.m.
