ARLINGTON, Va. – The Continental Volleyball Conference announced its first CVC Player of the Week of the season on Monday, and Marymount University men's volleyball senior Sam Safley earned the honor, following the team's first week of action.
Safley led the team with 70 kills and 79 points in the first-five matches of the year. He hit double-digit kills in each match, with a high of 22 against Wells College, while hitting .305 percent for the week.
He finished the week, averaging 4.38 kills per set and 4.9 points per set. He also added 20 digs, seven blocks, and four service aces.
Safley and the Saints will be back in action on Saturday, January 18 in their first home matches of the season, in a tri-match with Geneva College and Alvernia University. They begin the day against Geneva at 12 p.m.
