Saints finish second in Atlantic East Championship; Bett named Rookie of the Year

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Marymount University men's cross country team earned 79 points in the Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday to finish second in the race.

Freshman Meshack Bett led the team with a second-place finish with a time of 28:26.6. With the effort, he was named the Atlantic East Rookie of the Year and an All-Atlantic East first team selection.

The sophomore tandem of Brendan O'Brien and Matthew Thies placed 15th and 16th, respectively. O'Brien clocked a time of 31:30.2, while Thies finished in 31:36.3.

Junior Paolo Rivas took 26th in 35:06.8, while senior Gustavo Barrera finished out the Saints' scoring in 31st in 36:57.9.

Freshman Vincent Cassano placed 34th in 40:30.3 to close out the race for Marymount.

The Saints now look forward to the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships on Saturday, November 16.
