ATLANTA - The Marymount women's basketball team not only had another successful season on the court in 2017-18, but also performed at a high level in the classroom. On Tuesday, the Saints were named an Academic Top 25 team in all off Division III by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The women as a team posted a 3.569 grade-point average, placing them as the 23rd best team in the country on the academic side. The Saints are the only school in both the new conference, Atlantic East, and former conference, Capital Athletic, to earn a spot in the Top 25.
The top-ranked team in Division III was Emerson, posting a team GPA of 3.712.
On the athletic side, the Saints went 25-4 with another trip to the NCAA tournament. They capped off their CAC tenure with the league-leading 13th conference title, while Head Coach Ashlee Rogers was named Coach of the Year and senior Leah Hurst was named Player of the Year.
They will open the 2018-19 campaign with a five-game home stand, starting with Emory & Henry on Friday, November 9.
