OCEAN VIEW, Del. - The Marymount University women's golf team won the program's first ever tournament on Monday afternoon, winning the Atlantic East Fall Invitational by 54 strokes after carding a team score of 345 (+57) at the Bear Trap Dunes.
Heading the way for the Saints for her fifth career tournament victory was senior Alessandra Bertacche, posting a 78 (+6) through the 18-hole, 5,817-yard course.
She was followed in second place by freshman Denise Isabel Trojillo with an 88 (+16), and senior Brandie Hartzell came through just one stroke behind her with an 89 (+17) to tie for third with a Marywood University golfer.
Freshman Victoria Zarkadas finished out the scoring group with a round of 90 (+18) to tie for fifth, while freshman Gina Carvelli rounded out the Saint squad with a 97 (+25) to finish eighth out of the 14-competitor field.
The invitational closes out the Fall slate for the Saints, placing in the top four of the four tournaments they had a team score in.
