Saints close out Shenandoah Spring Invitational in second

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – The Marymount University women's golf team placed second in the Shenandoah Spring Invitational on Friday, carding a 744 (+168) as a team; the Saints posted a 351 (+63) during the second round of play.

All five Saints improved on their round-one scores, led by senior Alessandra Bertacche's 79 (+7) in round two. She finished the tournament second overall with a 168 (+24).

Freshman Denise Isabel Trojillo also finished in the top five, taking fourth with a 174 (+30), following an 82 (+10) during the second day of action.

Freshmen Victoria Zarkadas, Gina Carvelli, and Janlynn Ngo all improved by more than 10 strokes during round two, as well.

Zarkadas took ninth with a 191 (+47) after a day two score of 90 (+18).

Carvelli carded a 100 (+28) during Friday's play to finish 12th with a 211 (+67), and Ngo notched a 110 (+38) to finish 14th with a 224 (+80).

The Saints will next be in action on Sunday, March 24 at the Catholic Invitational at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park, Md.
