Women's golf takes second in Centennial Conference championships; Trojillo named Rookie of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Marymount University women's golf team capped its season on Sunday in the second day of the Centennial Conference Championships, placing second with a 719 (+159) for the weekend at Conestoga Country Club. The Saints improved in round two with a 353 (+73).

Senior Alessandra Bertacche led the Saints with an 80 (+10) in round two, placing third overall in the championships with a 169 (+29). She improved her score by nine strokes in the second round, earning an all-conference selection.

Freshman Denise Isabel Trojillo tied for ninth with a 181 (+41), earning the Centennial Rookie of the Year award. It is her third major award of the season, after being named the Atlantic East Conference Golfer of the Year and Rookie of the Year earlier this week.

Finishing just behind Trojillo, classmate Victoria Zarkadas and senior Brandie Hartzell tied for 11th and placed 14th, respectively. Zarkadas finished the weekend with a 183 (+43), while Hartzell carded a 186 (+46).

Freshman Gina Carvelli closed out the Saints' weekend, tying for 25th with a 226 (+86).
