Gillis leads Saints in second after round one of VSGA Championship

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Marymount University women's golf team began the 1st VSGA Women's Intercollegiate Championship on Saturday, finishing round one in third with a 344 (+60).

The Saints were led by freshman Hunter Gillis in second place, carding a 73 (+2) in round one.

Sophomore Denise Isabel Trojillo tied for 10th, finishing with an 82 (+11). Classmate Victoria Zarkadas finished in a tie for 18th with a 91 (+20) on her card.

Marymount's first round was finished out by sophomore Janlynn Ngo in 23rd with a 98 (+27) and sophomore Gina Carvelli in a tie for 26th with a 101 (+30).

The Saints will continue the second round of the VSGA Championship on Sunday, October 20, beginning at 12 p.m.
