Saints fall in regular-season finale to Eagles on Senior Day

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount (Va.) University women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day, falling behind early to No. 14 University of Mary Washington to eventually drop an 18-9 decision.

Prior to the game, the Saints honored the four-year careers of seniors Catina Boster, Meghan Higgins and Natalie Tinkham

The Eagles opened up the game with a three-goal stretch, forcing the Saints to take an early timeout three minutes in. Coming out of the timeout, MU answered with an unassisted finish by junior Kellen Cannon

UMW added a free-position goal, but the Saints came right back off a dish from junior Abby Wescott to sophomore Bridget Odom at the 17:36 mark to get within two, 4-2. However, the Eagles hit another scoring stretch, putting away six straight to take a commanding 10-3 advantage.

Junior Liah Agouras scored in the final two minutes before the half on a clear attempt, but the Eagles scored one last time to take an 11-3 advantage into the break.

On the restart, the Saints gained a little momentum, seeing sophomore Jessica Crew cash in on two man-up opportunities. Mary Washington halted a run by the Saints with four more goals of its own before Marymount rattled off three finishes. Cannon registered the first two, while Cannon sent a pass to Odom for the third.

In the closing eight minutes, the Eagles added their final three goals splitting a finish by Tinkham to take the 18-9 decision.

Cannon finished with a team-high four points off three goals and an assist. Sophomore Holly Reik tended the net for the full 60 minutes, making 14 saves.
