DANBURY, Conn. - After winning the program's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship a year ago, the Marymount women's lacrosse team was selected to defend its title in 2018 and will host Pfeiffer University on Wednesday at Long Bridge Park beginning at 7 p.m.
The Saints earned the second seed in Pod 2, while the Falcons are the three seed. Marymount enters with a 9-9 record, coming off a loss in the CAC first round to then-No. 9 Mary Washington who advanced to the conference title game. Pfeiffer, who is in its first season as a Division III school after dropping down from Division II, enters with an 11-1 record.
There is just one common opponent between the two squads this season, both defeating Guilford College earlier in the year. The Falcons only topped Guilford, 12-10, while the Saints throttled to a 19-5 victory.
Pending a victory, the Saints would advance to Championship Weekend at Stockton University, the site of the 2017 Championship Weekend. The semifinals are slated for Saturday, May 12 and the champion is crowned on Sunday.
