Women's lacrosse earns ECAC berth, will host Pfeiffer in first-round game

DANBURY, Conn. – The Marymount University women's lacrosse team saw its season extended on Monday, earning a spot in the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship tournament. The Saints will host a first-round game at Long Bridge Park against Pfeiffer University on Wednesday, May 8; the opening draw is set for 4 p.m.

The Saints finished the regular season with a 12-7 record to earn their fourth-straight ECAC tournament berth. The team earned a spot at the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic East Conference tournament, as well, winning a first-round game against sixth-seeded Gwynedd Mercy University, 22-11.

Last season, Marymount hosted Pfeiffer in a first-round ECAC contest, coming away with a 14-8 win. The Saints opened on a 7-1 run, before leading, 9-2, at halftime, leaving little doubt in the game.

Then-junior Jessica Crew led the team with six goals in the game, while senior Abby Wescott notched five points on a goal and four assists.

The winner of Wednesday's game will move on to the semifinal round on Saturday, May 11, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham and take on the winner of another first-round game between Drew University and Neumann University. The start of the semifinal game is set for 11 a.m.
