ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Marymount University women's swimming team began its 2018-19 season on Saturday at St. Mary's College of Maryland, dropping the meet, 133-67.
Junior Hayley Elizondo tallied three first-place finishes in the meet to lead the Saints. She led the way in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, winning in 25.66 seconds and 56.50 seconds, respectively. She also added gold in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.67.
Senior Taylor Plumley added two silver medals for the Saints, placing second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.95) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:37.42). She also teamed with senior Claire Cassidy, junior Jessie Bricker, and sophomore Claudia Beuchert to take second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.45).
Cassidy tallied third-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley, as well. She finished the backstroke in 1:06.70 and the IM in 2:27.63.
Bricker also added a bronze medal in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:11.80.
Freshman Kaila Cuellar added the final individual placement for the Saints, taking third in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.19.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, November 3 in their first home meet and conference meet, hosting Atlantic East Conference-foe Immaculata University; the meet is set for 2 p.m.
