Elizondo earns first-ever Atlantic East Women's Swimmer of the Week award

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announced its first-ever Swimmers of the Week on Monday, and Marymount University junior Hayley Elizondo was honored as the Women's Swimmer of the Week for the first time.

Elizondo started the 2018-19 season in strong fashion, earning three first-place finishes in the Saints first meet of the year on Saturday at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

She began her day with first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, winning in 25.66 seconds and 56.50 seconds, respectively.

The Canal Winchester, Ohio native then earned the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.67.

Before joining the Atlantic East this season, Elizondo was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week twice in her career.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, November 3 in their first home meet, hosting Immaculata University in Atlantic East action; the meet is set for 2 p.m.
