Plumley, Saints combine for three Atlantic East titles in day one of swimming championships

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Marymount University women's swimming team began the Atlantic East Conference Championships on Friday night, notching two relay and one individual championships, to finish day one in second with 186 points.

The Saints earned the first-ever Atlantic East swimming championship, as the day began with the 200-yard freestyle relay. Senior Taylor Plumley and juniors Hayley Elizondo, Isabel Grimm, and Jessie Bricker, combined to finish in a time of 1:41.98 to take the gold.

Plumley got right back onto the podium with the conference's first individual championship in the 500-yard freestyle. She finished in 5:14.14, giving Marymount the title in the first-two events.

Marymount capped the day with the 400-yard medley relay championship, with Plumley, Elizondo, Grimm, and senior Claire Cassidy posting a time of 4:07.36.

Grimm added a second-place finish, coming up just .03 seconds behind Cabrini University's Sarah Gudas in the 50-yard freestyle. Grimm finished in 25.77 seconds, setting a new career-best time in the process.

The Saints will continue the meet on Saturday, February 16, with preliminary events getting started at 10 a.m.
