The 2018 campaign marked Wilson’s 26th season as the Head Coach of the Marymount University Women’s Volleyball program. Named the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006, she has acquired a 458-414 career record with the Saints, including a 159-76 overall tally the past seven seasons.
Wilson led the Saints to their best season in program history in 2018, posting a 26-5 record, while winning the program's first-ever conference championship in the team's first season playing in the Atlantic East Conference. The Saints also advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time in program history. She coached five players to All-Atlantic East teams on the year, while two athletes were named to the All-East Region team and Honorable Mention All-America team. She was also named College Division Coach of the Year by VaSID, while two players were named to First-Team All-State.
In 2017, Wilson led the Saints to their sixth-straight winning season, including their fifth-straight trip to the ECAC tournament. Marymount advanced to the semifinal round of the postseason tournament to cap the year. The year included the program's 22nd player being named to an All-CAC team, and a selection to the VaSID College Division All-State teams.
Under Wilson’s leadership, the program has recorded 15 seasons over .500 and 11, 20-plus win seasons. The 2016 campaign was the program’s fifth-straight winning season and fourth-consecutive appearance in the ECAC postseason tournament. Other highlights from the 2016 season were the program’s first win over an AVCA nationally-ranked opponent, three All-CAC selections, one AVCA All-Region selection, a third-place finish in the ECAC Tournament, matching the program’s record of only nine season losses and earning a NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional ranking. The program was also regional ranked in 2006 and 2014.
Since 1993, Marymount has had 34 All-CAC selections, one CAC Rookie of the Year, four AVCA All-Region Selections and three Honorable Mention All-Americans. Six of her former players, Suzanne Dougherty, Chris Ann Becki, Jennifer Baize, Mary Carroll, Yvette Thomasson and Julia Ralston are in the Marymount Athletics Hall of Fame.
Over her 26-year career with the Saints, Wilson has served as the CAC Women’s Volleyball Chairperson and represented the conference on numerous NCAA and AVCA committees. She has completed CAP 1, CAP 2, IMPACT and CPR certifications.
Wilson also works extensively with the newly-branded St. James Volleyball Club, formerly know as the Arlington Elite Volleyball Club, a USAV/AAU affiliated travel program serving youth in the Washington DC area. This work helps Wilson develop stronger relationships with other club coaches and increases the Saint’s recruiting network. Since 2011, she has coached U-18, U-16, U-13 and U-12 teams. Last season, her U-16 team qualified for USA Junior Nationals. She will be coaching the U-17 for 2017-18 and plans to stay at that age group as it exposes her to the greatest number of active Marymount recruits.
Wilson began her volleyball career as a high school player in San Diego, California. She was named the 2A California Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year in 1985 while at La Jolla High School. She continued playing at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where she was a four-year starting middle hitter, captain her junior and senior seasons and an all-conference selection as a senior. She ended her playing career with a 101-29 record and received her B.A. in Religion in 1989.
Off the court, Wilson and her husband Donald have three children and live close to Marymount's campus in Arlington.
