Merrill honored with first Atlantic East Runner of the Week

ARLINGTON, Va. – Freshman Carly Merrill, of the Marymount University women's cross country team, was named the Atlantic East Conference Runner of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference announced on Monday.

Merrill paced the Saints in the Shannon Henretty Invitational on Saturday at Stevenson University. She finished the race with a time of 27:39.48 in the 6K run, which was good for 54th in the competition.

She helped the team garner 187 points in the race, good for seventh, in her second-straight race as the first to cross the finish for the Saints.

Marymount will have a week off from competition, before racing in the Hornet Harrier Invitational in Winchester, Va., on Saturday, September 22.
